About the Artists:

Graham Gillmore is a painter from Vancouver, BC Canada. Graham creates text based
works that skew, re-arrange and challenge meaning in language. He has an interest in
"flawed communication." He has been featured in many group shows and more than a dozen
solo shows in Canada, Mexico, Italy, Germany, and in New York, including a show with Mary
Boone. He works have been included at The Tate Modern, MOMA - The Museum of Modern
Art, RCA Records, and The Ghent Museum.

Samm Cohen is a painter, photographer, printmaker, and jeweler. She is from Queens, New
York - now based in a studio in Brooklyn. She has been shown in numerous group and
individual shows and her poetry has been published. Samm creates haunting and viscerally
emotive paintings. She could be a peer of Bacon and Clemente in the right setting. Her
paintings come from directly within. She is also the drummer and beat operator in the band
ALIENS.

Michael Holman is a filmmaker, writer, painter, and creator of the television show "Graffiti
Rock." Michael was also a member of The Tubes and formed the New York noise band Gray
with Jean Michel Basquiat and Nick Taylor. Michael has shown his films, paintings, and
videos in galleries around the US and Europe. His paintings focus on intricate and
challenging images of flags contrasted with logos of major corporations and iconic cultural
images. He managed the New City York Breakers, gave Run DMC and The Beastie Boys
their first TV performances on "Graffiti Rock!." Recently Gray performed their music at The
New Museum.

Blake Sandberg is a visual artist focused on painting, drawing, and video production. He is
originally from Texas, moving to the East Village in the mid-ninties. He creates iconic images
and founded the Severed Leg Productions Company named after his cut-off limb image.
Blake has exhibited his work in Japan, London, San Francisco, Austin and Marfa, Texas,
and a number of group and solo shows in New York City. He created the MISC. MUSIC label
to release underground and experimental music. He is the guitarist and vocalist in the band
ALIENS.

Vargas-Suarez Universal aka Rafael Vargas-Suarez was born in Mexico and grew up near
The Johnson Space Center in a suburb of Houston, Texas. Fascinated by NASA, he studied
astronomy and math at The University of Texas at Austin. He creates intricate paintings and
prints filled with abstract lines and forms that relate to these interests. Rafael works
freehand using an remarkably precise and fluid hand quality. His works are included in
collections of The Whitney Museum of American Art, El Museo del Barrio, Queens Museum
of Art, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Jersey City Museum, Rhode Island School of Design
Museum of Art, Baltimore Museum of Art, Mexic-Arte Museum.

Tom Warren is a Brooklyn based photographer. He creates stunning black and white
photos with an 8x10 camera. He has been photographing the people, buildings, artists, and
events around him for over 30 years. In one of his ongoing series he photographs air vents
around New York City offers an amazing glimpse into an overlooked architectural device - in
which Tom finds beauty, feeling, grittiness, and personality in these strange metal structures
you may run across on the sidewalk after looking at his photos.

ALIENS are the sonic collaboration of Blake Sandberg and Samm Cohen. Based here in
Brooklyn, ALIENS have performed locally at CBGB, Santos Party House, The Knitting
Factory, Lit Lounge, and The Cake Shop, around the country on two tours. ALIENS album
"Head First" has been heard on college and independent radio stations and even reached
the CMJ Top 200. Their recent single "The In Side" was in the CMJ Top 20. Currently
ALIENS are recording their second album in Brooklyn and plotting a course for the stars.
